Research group leader Dr. David N. Whiteman retired from a 37-year career at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center and joined Howard University in 2017. He is currently engaged in a 2-year Fulbright Fellowship working with the Laboratory for Atmospheric Physics at the Universidad Mayor de San Andres where he holds an appointment as an associate researcher. While at NASA, he was an innovator in the field of lidar and other atmospheric measurements frequently earning NASA achievement awards. He also won the Optical Society of America Allen Prize in 2001 and the Robert H. Goddard award for Science in 2008 and has published more than 100 refereed journal articles.
