HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (2022-2023)
Shayla Reid, 2022-2023
During Shayla’s internship at Howard University’s Atmospheric Research Laboratory, she analyzed the data collected from the 2022 Bolivian Campaign to observe the behavior of the atmosphere as particulate matter was transported from La Paz to a higher elevation site on Chacaltaya mountain. She learned how to use Wolfram Mathematica to analyze the data and generate graphs. Here is the poster of her research. Shayla graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s Science and Technology Program in 2023. She is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Cornell University’s College of Engineering. |
Hoven Zou, 2022-2023 During Hoven’s internship at Howard University, he continued to work with the 2022 Bolivia Campaign via Mathematica to interpret the collected data to study the flow of particulate matter and black carbon toward the summit of Mt. Chacaltaya. With the help of Dr. Whiteman, he found that the Mountain Chimney effect is active and present, but the movement of aerosols can also be influenced by local convective effects. His ERHS Research Practicum poster is here. Hoven graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School's Science and Tech program in 2023 and is attending University of Maryland, College Park. |
